Located in the Lower Mainland–Southwest, Berry Haven Farm Ltd. is investing in the future of its raspberry operation with support from British Columbia’s Enhanced Replant Program (ERP). Through strategic replanting, the farm is improving productivity, variety performance, and long‑term resilience in the face of evolving production challenges. 

Participating in ERP’s Berry Replant stream, Berry Haven Farm removed 10.3 acres of raspberries and replanted 10.5 acres. The replant included the introduction of new varieties, BC 1855.11 and Sarafina, as well as the re-establishment of Mapema. Previous plantings of Albion, Mapema, and Lochness were removed due to declining performance and replaced with more productive and resilient plant material.

This project is a shift toward improved production practices on the farm. By optimizing planting density to 2,778 plants per acre, Berry Haven Farm planted more than 29,000 new raspberry plants, positioning the operation for stronger yields and more consistent fruit quality. 

In addition to refreshing the varietal selection, the replant project allowed the farm to modernize its fields and better align production with current market demand for premium berries. While the replant included changes within the commodity, it also introduced new cultivars, supporting innovation and adaptability within the operation. 

By supporting projects like this, the Enhanced Replant Program helps berry growers across British Columbia replace low‑producing acreage with healthier, more resilient plantings. For Berry Haven Farm Ltd., ERP funding has helped strengthen the foundation of its raspberry operation, supporting long‑term competitiveness, sustainability, and continued contribution to BC’s agriculture sector.

The Government of BC funds the Enhanced Replant Program (ERP) through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. The program is delivered by IAF.
