The Ministry of Land, Water and Resource Stewardship has announced the B.C. Government’s $30 million commitment to improve B.C.’s Watersheds. The Investment Agriculture Foundation of BC’s Farmland Advantage Program, along with five other organizations will receive half, $15 million, of the funding. IAF is so appreciative of the Ministry’s support of the Farmland Advantage Program.

The purpose of the FLA program is to support and help farmers identify natural values like wetlands, forests, and shorelines, which can be protected and enhanced, and develop recommendations and plans to preserve these natural lands. This investment will help further this program in identifying and restoring vital natural values in BC. Furthermore, this funding will support the program in addressing environmental and climate concerns.
The FLA program has already seen success in some of the restoration projects started last year. To date, the program has funded 60 projects including protection of 300 hectares of Riparian habitat, 30 km of shoreline, and 160 hectares of grassland. IAF is excited to continue administering and delivering the FLA program for BC farmers with the support of the Ministry of Land, Water and Resource Stewardship’s funding
