Looking for information on your application to the Buy BC Partnership Program or the B.C. Agri-Food and Seafood Market Development Program for the 2020-21 Funding Cycle?

These answers directly relate to applicants that applied for the April 2020 – March 2021 funding cycle for the Buy BC Partnership Program or the B.C. Agri-Food and Seafood Market Development Program

Please note that we will be notifying all applicants of the funding decision by 16:30 on Friday 28th February 2020.

When will I know if I have been approved for funding?

All applications that were submitted before the program deadline of November 29, 2019 were thoroughly reviewed and scored in December and January. Scored projects were then reviewed and approved by a sub-committee of our Directors and Funders on February 5, 2020. Applicants will be notified of the funding decision on their project by February 28, 2020.

How many applications did you receive for these programs?

114 applications were received for the Buy BC Program. 90 applications were received for the BC Agrifood and Seafood Market Development Program.

Will all applications be approved for funding?

The funding request we received for each program was considerably higher than the available program budget. While we were very happy to see such a high interest in these two programs, this does mean that not everyone will be approved for funding.

What criteria were used to assess the applications?

All applications to the Buy BC and B.C. Agri-food and Seafood Market Development Program were scored based on the following criterion, which were developed in conjunction with the BC Ministry of Agriculture:

    • Past Project Reporting, Performance and Communications with IAF Staff (if repeat applicant only)
    • Market Research and Planning to support project activities
    • Activity details provided in the application
    • Project Budget, including reasonability of budget items and linkage to project activities
    • Alignment between project activities and program objectives
    • Scope of activities given project timeline

What if I don’t receive funding for my project? Is there an opportunity to revise/resubmit my application?

Funding decisions are final. We encourage all applicants to review our Program Guides on the IAF website for information on which activities are supported and to take advantage of our consultation calls with Program Staff before next Fall’s intake deadline.

Does an unsuccessful application impact my chances of receiving funding from IAF programs in the future?

No, an application decline does not impact your chances of being approved in a subsequent funding window. You are welcome and encouraged to apply to programs administered by IAF in the future.

When will the next application window open?

The next application window for the Buy BC and BC Agrifood and Seafood Market Development Programs will open on October 1, 2020. Applications received between then and November 30, 2020 will be for funding in the 2021/2022 fiscal year.
