Eligible Applicants

Eligible applicants approved for cost-shared funding are required to apply for use of the Buy BC logo. Applicants that seek to use the Buy BC logo without receiving cost-shared funding (i.e. they did not submit an application or are not approved to receive cost-shared funding) are welcome to apply for use of the Buy BC logo.

To be considered for authorization to use the Buy BC logo, applicants must:

  • be a B.C.-based:
    • industry association, board, or council; agricultural fair and/or farmers’ market; agriculture, food and beverage, and/or seafood retailer, wholesaler, or distributor; or other non-profit agriculture, food and beverage, and/or seafood organization; OR
    • primary agriculture and/or seafood producer or cooperative; or agriculture, food and beverage, and/or seafood processor;
  • have a head office in B.C. or be entitled (including being appropriately registered, licensed or certified, as appropriate) to do business in B.C.; and,
  • be selling or marketing one or more products grown or processed in B.C.

Buy BC Logo Licensing provides industry with the opportunity to apply for authorization to use the Buy BC logo through two types of Authorized Use Agreements:

  1. Authorized Use Agreement for Marketing
  2. Authorized Use Agreement for Certification

Authorized Use Agreement for Marketing

Authorized Use Agreement for Marketing enable BC industry associations, boards and councils; agriculture fairs and farmers’ markets; agriculture, food and beverage, and seafood retailers, wholesalers, and distributors; and other non-profit agriculture, food and beverage, and seafood organizations to use the Buy BC logo on marketing/promotional materials to increase appreciation, awareness and support for BC agriculture and food products across the province.

Please note that only producers, processors and cooperatives that have been certified through Buy BC logo licensing can apply the Buy BC logo directly on product/packaging labels on approved products.

Authorized Use Agreement for Certification

Authorized Use Agreement for Certification enables BC primary agriculture and seafood producers and cooperatives; and agriculture, food and beverage, and seafood processors that meet the Buy BC logo certification requirements to use a strong Buy BC brand identifier (i.e. Buy BC logo) on their product/packaging labels and marketing/promotional materials that will help consumers recognize and seek out BC products.

Certified “Buy BC” products provide the public with confidence that those products meet specific criteria regarding their connection to BC as the place of origin or manufacture of the products themselves or their ingredients.

Applications must meet the following Buy BC Logo Licensing certification requirements to use the Buy BC logo.

Primary Agriculture and/or Seafood Producers or Cooperatives:

Producing fresh food, beverage, or agricultural and seafood products which are 100% grown, caught, or raised in B.C.

Agriculture, Food and Beverage and/or Seafood Processors:

Processing food, beverage, or agricultural and seafood products which are processed and packaged in B.C. with 51% or more of the direct cost of producing the product in its final form (i.e. sum of raw materials, direct labour, variable processing, and packaging) originating in B.C.
