Our Board is responsible for governing the affairs of the Foundation, administering programs entrusted to it, making decisions on applications for funding & bringing a wealth of experience from the agriculture, food processing, farm supply and post farm gate sectors across BC.
Represents Tree Fruits and Grapes, Region Kootenays. Board Member Since 2015.
Don currently owns and operates a cherry orchard in Creston with his wife Susan and son Corey, producing and exporting late season cherries. He is also a member of the BC Fruit Growers Association.
Represents Community Agriculture, Region Okanagan/Shuswap. Board Member Since 2015.
Dennis operates a small farm near Falkland, BC, where he raises purebred sheep with his three sons and his wife and partner, Renee. In addition to the IAF board, Dennis currently serves as an elected representative for the Columbia Shuswap Regional District and chairs the North Okanagan Regional District agriculture advisory committee.

A third-generation farmer, Ken manages 500 acres in Ladner where he grows blueberries, potatoes and operates a dairy with his three brothers. Ken brings an extensive background of regional and industry participation to IAF, previously serving on several agricultural boards including the BC Blueberry Council, the Delta Agricultural Society, the Delta Farmers’ Institute and more.

Len began farming almost as soon as arriving in Canada in 1975. Today he manages Mardelen Holsteins Ltd., and is an active member of the dairy industry. He has served as secretary for Agrifoods International Co-op, chairman of the Sustainable Manure Management Program, and was involved on the steering committee to establish the Environmental Farm Plan Program for BC.
Represents Other Livestock, Region Fraser Valley. Board Member Since 2013.
Jack’s life-long involvement in agriculture began with dairy and hog farming until 1998, when he expanded to a 70-acre cranberry operation in Langley. In addition to serving on the IAF board, Jack is the current chair of the BC Pork Producers Association, the BC representative on the Canadian Pork Council in Ottawa, and a director for the BC Cranberry Marketing Commission.
Represents Grains & Oilseeds, Region Peace River. Board Member Since 2014.
Walter owns and operates Aurora Farms and Aurora Seeding Systems in Dawson Creek. He is a director for the BC Grain Producers Association, and before joining the IAF board, served as a director of the South Peace Grain Cleaning Co-op for five years.
Represents Emerging Sectors, Region Vancouver Island. Board Member Since 2014.
Arzeena is a professional agrologist specializing in organic food production, and the owner of Amara Farm in Courtenay. Formerly the coordinator of the Richmond Food Security Society, she was instrumental in launching the Richmond Farm School. Along with her IAF work, she is also a director for the BC Food Systems Network, Certified Organic Association of BC, and the Island Organic Producers Alliance.
Represents Post Farm Gate, Region Fraser Valley. Board Member Since 2013.
Alistair has served the agri-foods industry since 1970, first in the UK and then as Director of Operations for the Northern Alberta Dairy Pool, later serving on the BC Chicken Marketing Board. In addition to his work with IAF, Alistair is the 1st VP of the BC Food Processors Association and Director of Operations for the Vanderpol Food Group.
Represents Poultry, Region Fraser Valley. Board Member Since 2012.
Dale rejoined his family farm in Abbotsford in 2003, after earning a BBA in Operations and Human Resource Management from the University of Fraser Valley. In addition to serving as IAF’s poultry representative, he is the vice president of the BC Chicken Growers Association and president of the BC Young Farmers Association.
Represents Greenhouse, Floriculture & Nursery, Region Okanagan. Board Member Since 2002-08, 2013.
Prior to returning to IAF in 2013, Bert served on numerous boards including the Small Scale Food Processors Association, ARDCorp, the BC Horticulture Council, and a previous six-year term with IAF, including two years as chair. Previously he was involved with the BC Provincial Agriculture Land Commission and today also offers farm business management, strategic planning and other services through H.A. Miles Ag Consulting.

After developing North America’s first frozen organic baby food, Kalpna now manufactures a product line of allergy-friendly snacks through her company FX-Foods Inc. She is also a director for the Small Scale Food Processors Association, and has previously served on a number of other non-profit and for-profit boards.
